DSH Audit Survey
Congress and CMS require states that receive DSH funding to audit their programs. Each state has contracted an audit contractor. Myers and Stauffer has been engaged by 19 state Medicaid programs. Currently FY 2009 is being audited.
The completion of the DSH survey is a labor intensive task that requires a full understanding of the cost report. The DSH survey includes a claims level analysis to determine the cost of uninsured services provided and the cost of Medicaid services. The DSH survey also requires an extraction of cost and charge data from each cost report the covers the audit period as well as a series of attestations.
